The Challenge
In 2012, Feed Energy Company was growing as a premier source of energy solutions to livestock producers. They were also outgrowing their building. Proxymity was brought in for their independent expertise to help Feed Energy evolve their business.

Discovery

Proxymity spent time understanding the company’s vision and objectives.

As agricultural scientists focused on innovation, diverting their attention to a property design project was not the best use of their time. Feed Energy was concerned about the following:
  • The best size and layout to support the growth of their operations.
  • Making smart decisions to meet their financial goals.
  • Time spent managing a design project rather than serving paying customers.
  • Getting behind schedule and over budget.
Creation
Proxymity’s team ascertained Feed Energy’s specific objectives, budget, and timeline to detail a scope for assembling the right design team at an appropriate cost.

They collaborated with designers to model construction schedules and costs.

Full, transparent collaboration among all parties inside and outside Feed Energy saved significant time and money.

Execution
Feed Energy was able to free up a significant amount of their time and energy, allowing for more time spent on client service, generating
revenue, research and development, and focusing on growing their business.

Seamless planning and execution meant that the right questions got asked throughout the project.
Feed Energy was able to make decisions fully aligned with their vision, values and financial resources.
Results
  • Saved 250 internal staff hours.

  • Identified $317,346 of deferred maintenance, directly reducing property purchase price.

  • Eliminated cost over-runs (change orders), providing an estimated $204,000 in savings.

"Proxymity helped us understand the larger plan before we made a property decision."
