How Proxymity happened

Proxymity founders Kevin Schlueter and John Garvey, both career commercial construction and real estate professionals, began talking years ago about creating a new approach to helping companies plan and create new property. And doing so in a way where new kinds of talent, values and relentless client focus would be brought to bear.

Instead of simply scouting for square footage at the cheapest price, what if an advisory resource existed that could listen to a company's management and employees talk about their strategy, their performance objectives and their long-term aspirations? And what if a property could be planned and created based on those needs and goals?  Wouldn't that create a property that lasts for the long term, that truly supports strategy and enhances performance? And saves money as well?  After all, next to payroll, property is generally the biggest investment a company makes. Should it not be planned and acquired with a higher strategic purpose in mind?

The answers were all "yes."  And Proxmity was launched.

Evolution through listening...and responding

While working closely with clients and listening at length to their needs and plans, the Proxymity team repeatedly heard more needs, challenges and issues come to the surface. These involved the quest for new technology options that went beyond upgrading desktops and getting faster servers. Clients were looking for broad technology blueprints that integrate with corporate strategy, employee work flow and property.

Similar thoughts were also being shared about sustainability.  Clients were curious about what could and should be done beyond recycling or adding a small wind turbine. What new ideas and methods could be adopted that shift an environmental footprint while improving operations and saving money?

And, how could Proxymity assist clients in shaping their leadership teams, their organizational structure or even job descriptions and talent acquisition?

Hence, the advent of Proxymity Technology and Proxymity Sustainability, and Proximity Organizational Development.

Where we're heading

The future of Proxymity is a promising one, propelled by our values and organizational vision. We see Proxymity with a presence in 10 or more geographic U.S. markets within the next 5-10 years.  We look to grow by parlaying our approach to strategic property planning, creation and execution into additional ways to serve businesses and organizations. These solutions, beyond property, will be in technology, sustainability and organizational development. They may also include categories such as product development, talent strategies, even pursuits that don't yet have an industry "label."

Regardless of the assignment or the size of our client roster, Proxymity will continue to place a premium on close collaboration among our clients and our contributors, maintaining our independence from any single vendor or supplier, and attracting confident, experienced, creative people who thrive on personal client service and helping others achieve big things.
